F.O.Svartdal.
I knew Paul Bloomberg very well growing up in Burlington Vermont.
He was a super basketball player-a credit to his family and community.

I have been researching this accident for a couple of months.
Delbert McCrary was my fathers cousin.
Great web site!
Hello.
I don’t know if this belongs in your guest book, but I did want to send you and email.
I just found your website on the O’Hara Crew. My name is Darin Scorza.
My father flew as a navigator with the 458th Bomb Group out of England.
I have been researching the group for a few years now and I have also created a website to honor
these men at www.458bg.com. The names of this crew have been a mystery to me for quite some time now.
I have seen the names of the members of this crew on the 458th list of those KIA, but I had not put
the names together as a crew until just recently.
The O’Hara crew was originally assigned to the 458th and according to Special Orders 189 (SO189)
dated 21 July 1944 were place on Temporary Duty (TD) for 90 days - apparently to Leuchars, Scotland.
The orders do not give any specific details other than the names of the crew, and I assume that they
were to return to the group when the 90 days were completed.
I was quite thrilled to find your website and even more so when I saw a crew photo of the O’Hara crew.
One of my main goals with the 458th website is to honor all those who served with the group and were
killed in action.
I wonder if you could supply me or point me to someone who could supply
me with a copy of the crew photo?
Thank you very much for your very fine website honoring these eleven men.
Thanks very much,
Darin Scorza
My name is Geraldine ( Gerri ) Bloomberg.
My husband Sam is the youngest brother of Paul Bloomberg,
Bombardier who was killed on the flight over Seljord.
I never had the chance to meet Paul, but we named our oldest son, Ethan Paul bloomberg,
after his Uncle Paul.
Ethan is now 40 years old. My Husband's older brother Sanford and his family
have made the trip to Norway to see the memorial and climb the mountain where the
crash took place.
They conducted a memorial service on the mountain in Paul Bloomberg's memory.
Sanford's oldest son, Paul Bloomberg MD(also named after his Uncle Paul) was
present as were his two brothers, Jonathon Bloomberg MD and David Bloomberg.
I never met this wonderful man, but he is a legend in our family and also in our
community as a fine person and a talented athlete.
Many thanks for setting up this web site and for the Seljord community who
have honored the brave men of this crew and kept the memory of them alive.
Sincerely,
Sam and Gerri Bloomberg and their family:
Ethan Paul Bloomberg
Beth Bloomberg/Douglas Bishop and their son Ian Joseph Bishop
Josh and Luiza Bloomberg
My name is John "Nick" Bambick. I am the great nephew of Lewis Thomas Bambick,
the navigator of the B-24 featured in this website.
On behalf of the Bambick family,
and the families of those killed in the crash, I would like to thank you for remembering
their sacrifices. I hope to visit the crash site, and the recently
constructed (1994) memorial.
If you know of any government programs that would allow me to travel to Norway to see
this, please let me know. I would like to keep a dialogue with the creator of this site
so that I may learn more about the events of that late autumn night.
I am currently a student at Kansas State University in the United States.
I am the grandson of John J. Bambick, the brother of Lewis T. Bambick. Please reply.

Thanks to you I have learned what happened to my uncle, Hubert Bourquin.
He was from Dallas, Tx. and died for his country. Thanks again.
S/Sgt John P Morris, one of the crew, was a gunner on my original crew with the 389th
Bomb Group.
We went over in June of 43 to Hethel then to North Africa to fly on the
Ploesti mission, went down in Turkey and interned for about six months.
'Escaped' in early 1944, back to Hethel for a few more combat missions then to Leuchars
for the Ball Project.
We flew a few missions as a crew then Morris wanted to get in a
few extra missions so he volunteered to fly on the plane that hit Skorve mountain.
One of the other Ball planes was shot down by the Russian battleship Archangel,
they lost an engine after making the drop and headed for an airfield in Russia,
flew over the battleship and got shot down....a long story.
I later returned to Hethel to finish the war and returned to ZI in June of 45.
Good job Fred, hang in there.
